About Me.

Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Without them we would not exist. They provide help on a regular basis or on an ad hoc basis. If you have some free time and would like to join one of our extraordinary teams to give back to your community, don't hesitate to contact our volunteer coordinator: voldirector@tapinri.org

Volunteer Roles

Back Room

Backroom volunteers receive donations of household items and children's clothing, helping to track, organize, and stock shelves.

Greeters

They are the first point of contact with donors and clients. A welcoming demeanor and awareness that you represent Tap-in to the community are essential. Volonteers sort donations and distribute them to clients.

Registration

They register clients new to Tap-in and clients returning for food and other services.

Drivers

Are driving food to our clients. This is a flexible volunteer position as volunteers can state when they are available and where they are willing to drive.

Food Pantry

They receive, sort and inspect food donations. They ensure that shelves are stocked, assemble food bags and give food and supplies to clients.

Food Supply

Student Volunteers

They pick up food purchases and /or unload Rhode Island Community Food Bank (RICFB) truck deliveries

High school and College students are welcome to volunteer at Tap-in during vacation. They are asked to help with various tasks. This is a good introduction to volunteerism.

Special Projects

From time to time, we need additional volunteers to help with our special programs and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive.

Specialists

Volunteers with expertise in various areas contribute their time and talent toward grant writing, technology, finances, and communications.

Buyer

Regularly shops for linens, housewares, food, and other items needed for Tap-In clients and programs.
